Here well take a quick look at Activisions latest installment of Call of Duty. This time the battle will be fought in our generation. No longer will we be storming beaches, and using ancient assualt riffles, but the war will be fought TODAY! Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare FINALLY takes place today in a PHOTO REALISTIC back drop of how we see the world. The offline gameplay is nice for a shooter. You travel through the single player campaign as either Soap MacTavish or Agt. Jackson and even during one of the missions you play as Cpt. Price when he was a Lieutenant 15 yrs ago. The single player campaign is brief, but engaging. Where the game really takes off, is ONLINE. So lets dive in.
There are 13 different modes of gameplay to choose from online. You have....
Team Deathmatch Players:6-12
Mercenary Team Deathmatch Players:6-12
Free-for-all Players:4-8
Domination Players:6-12
Ground War Players:8-18
Sabotage Players:6-12
Headquarters Players:6-12
Search and Destroy Players:6-12
Team Tactical Players:4-6
Hardcore Team Deathmatch Players:6-12
Hardcore Search and Destroy Players:6-12
Old School Free-for-all Players:4-8
Cage Match Players:2 1vs1
Each mode of gameplay has different objectives. Also in COD4 you have a Ranking System, which allows you to level up your character with special PERKS and Weapons. There is a Prestige mode once you've reached level 55, but you don't receive anything other than a artsy icon next to your name. Infinity you failed on this one.
Lets get into the basic gameplay. When starting off in the game online you will get pwned because some genius forgot to put a filtering system into the game otherwise the controls are smooth, but sometimes playing online isn't so smooth :) More on that later. The graphics are PHENOMENAL. Its an achievement to see such graphics by a third party studio on the Playstation. Other developers should take notes and stop porting us crappy games...EA. I have to address this. Now Whatif COD didn't have the online issues it's known for? You know what I'm talking about.
Not able to connect to Host, Server full, Connection Interrupted, LAG, Game Lobby Closed, and Downloading Game Setup. Whatif the makers of this game just put a little more thought into the game? "Why when you prestige your weapons cannot be upgradeable like the campaign and carry multiple perks?" Example; Silencer with the Red Dot Scope and grenade launcher. For perks 1,2,and 3 you should be able to choose multi perks. Example; The grenade launcher should not cancel out the bandolier perk. For perk 2 and 3 you should not be able to wear stopping power and juggernaut together and it would be impossible to have last stand along side martydom, but EVERYTHING ELSE IS FAIR GAME. ITS WAR :)
In my opinion you shouldn't even waste your time in renting this game. If you don't have it you need to go get it RIGHT NOW. Its pure fire.
To all you shooters out there, you need to step your game up cause Call of Duty 4: ModernWarfare is on the shelves.
